Mind Numbing

Just because I can afford to pay for streaming services does not mean that I can afford the time it takes to sit and watch the programs. The time it takes is a whole lot more. What you must invest is highly costly towards your own progress. Mind numbing programs that fail to inspire action taking. As we consume, they also consume all our desire to do something with our time during the day.

When we are so addicted by them, we even tend to forget that there is time in the day to get to the important things. We get into this tunnel of lies. Where we believe we do not have enough time to get to anything else that could give us progress. It is a nice way to spend our money and time to delay ourselves.

So goes the same for social media. Free but very expensive, it is so addictive. Easy to kill time there. However, similarly, easy to kill your peace of mind, and the time you could be spending on improving yourself, and your life.

After mindlessly scrolling through so much useless content on socials, we find ourselves feeling as though there is an actual itch in our brains. That itch is irritation because the brain is being numbed and not given the right type of stimulation. The kind of stimulation where it is problem solving and finding solutions.

Therefore, when I am stuck on socials, at some point, I look at the time and realise that I lost time I will never get back. It used to not make sense to me when someone said that. However, after becoming an adult who has to work in order that I may eat, I finally realised the true meaning of the phrase. It simply means, time I could be focussing on my dreams has gone, and I cannot get it back. Effectively, my focus is misdirected towards a thief of time.
