Story behind the poem
This poem is meant to invoke a reflection about our place with God.
We spend a lifetime working hard to be successful in our careers. We are very intentional about it. We work very hard to carefully build ourselves up in order that we are a valuable asset. To highly become sort after. This gives us more choices over where we work and can set a price.
We ought to actually do the above. If you don’t, you will have a tough time finding work and you will unfortunately have to do a lot of work convincing people that you are the right candidate.
When it comes to our connection with God, it is crucial that we are also intentional about how we build our relationship with him. We need to carefully think about what we do and why we do it? It is wise to ask ourselves if God is happy about where we are in life. We ought to bring all the choices and decisions to God and give him a say over our lives.
Being intentional means that we carefully organize our lives to be in line with God’s word. This will place us in a position to be able to grow closer to him and to open our eyes and ears in order that we can see and hear from him. Instead of us being the ones fighting so much to prove our worth, he gives us worth and opens the doors for us.
Simply put, we need to intentionally seek God’s worth in our lives. This is about being close to God, seeing ourselves how he sees us, and to move and act in accordance to his guiding light, which is his word.
